Final score:
RJC 52-36 IJC
We had beaten last season's runners up IJC in a pre-season friendly before and were confident of topping the group and playing a good, last 1st round game. We started this game better than the previous 3, with high intensity defense working well for us at the start. However, our conversion rate continued to disappoint and we found ourselves with a slim 9-point lead at the end of the first-half. Several unexpected and silly errors leading to turnovers and free baskets also let us down.
IJC threatened a few times in the 3rd quarter when their #8 managed to score with ease, coupled with us making some more stupid mistakes. We finally took charge and achieved some defensive success on the full court defense towards the end of the 3rd. We converted better in the 4th quarter and finally beat them by 16 points.
In general, not a game we want to remember but we will definitely work on our mistakes and play better defense. We also want to overcome fatigue together as a team and be more united, and have more confidence in our press.
The end of the 1st round marks the preparation for the 2nd. We have drawn group champions Victoria Junior College (who beat Temasek Junior College by 1), group runners-up Nanyang Junior College and Anderson Junior College. We have gotten a considerably good draw, but the 2nd round won't be easy. We'll be back, better and hungrier.

Ok - I may have been slightly late but I did not think this was a bad game.
Credit to IJC, they came prepared to play against us. But we were prepared too :) If already had the adjustment plan ready on Saturday.
Yes this probably cut closer that all the other games, and I saw some tension in our execution. But overall, we were alright despite missing the real FG.
Let's keep on believing and working.
