RI beats Guangyang
In a rather lacklustre performance, RI beat Guangyang Secondary School by a score of 55-40. It was a frustrating game, coupled with several instances of horrible defence. The energy level of the team was on generally on a low and some players were not prepared to come off the bench to play hard and fight. That resulted in us not being able to pull away by from Guangyang Secondary by more than 23 points even after outscoring them in the first three quarters. They outscored us 16-11 in the final quarter.
Despite all these, the perimeter players had a decent shooting game. Still, we couldn't dominate on the boards as much as we wish we would have. The opposite #13 was quite a handful, getting several rebounds on both ends, and often pulling our post players out to the the 3 point line and hitting a couple of 3s from downtown.
Overall, it was not a performance that we desired and RI would need to work on our focus and preparation over the Chinese New Year break. Only discipline and prepared minds will aid us in overwhelming Outram Secondary on the 21st of February which is the game deciding the runners-up for the group. They won't let us walk all over them, so we better be ready to fight hard just like how a Raffles team would, in the past, in the future and now!
