This was the last match of the 1st round of the T-Net tournament and was a "do-or-die" game as we had already lost to Cat High.
This game was played with much greater intensity and communication compared to the previous game against a weaker opposition, and the final score was 57-10. Before the game, we did our mental preparation (all the free throws and rebounding stuff) and we set a goal to limit them to less than 3 points a quarter, which we eventually achieved. All went well except for a few leaks here and there and the lack of energy in the last quarter. We ought to have punished them by an even greater scoreline but this match was the one which brightened us up as it was our first spirited performance of the tournament.

RI (A)-Woodlands Ring Secondary
This was the 3rd match of the first round of the T-net tournament.
The game was played with terribly low intensity, with the final score being 39-15.
We had beaten the same team by a scoreline of 70 points way way back this year, and it seems that we had gone into the match too cockily.
Our posts were outrebounded by their big centre who scored about 10 of their 15 points.
Main Lessons:
1) COMMUNICATION--we still did not talk AT ALL
2) Boxing Out--don't let their centre get all the rebounds
3) Contest the shots
4) HELP--when helping ask someone to cover the man you left to help your other teamate

T-Net 2nd Match
On 30th May, RI C Div team played it's 2nd match of the T-Net tournament
Final Score:
RI (A) 24-55 Catholic High
RI (B) 22-36 Pierce Secondary
For team A, this match was extremely disappointing for us, as we felt that we were able to challenge last years champions and potentially beat them in our first meeting of the year.
The match started off brightly with RI leading 5-0 in the opening minutes, but by the end of the first quarter, we were down by 7 points.
With their 3 tallies, Cat High out-rebounded, out-scored and when on a 10-0 run in the middle of the second quarter.
We didn't play particularly well in the 2nd half and we lost the game by 30 points.
Most important lesson:
TALK--we needed to communicate (whether its on defense, offense, helping or whatsoever)
For team B, quoting from Ryan Chin on the C Div Blog:
"hi guys, just an update about team b's match against peirce sec on 29th may. lost by 14 points 36-22. points were mainly given up coz of steals and fastbreaks by our opponents. they used the full-court trap for most of the game, which we didnt know really well how to break it and so we gave up many points because of mis-passes under pressure, and interceptions. we also lost out in rebounds, we are not boxing-out properly, and not going for the rebounds, ending up with our opponents getting the offensive rebound and putting it back into the basket. Well, we have learnt our lesson. we'll do better for the next match. =)"

"For team A, like i said during debrief just now, lacking defensive intensity and yeah i missed 10 open baskets, weixuan missed 4. But we addressed the problems after the game just now and i think it's good that we can always reflect over the game and have a nice debrief as a team. At the end of the day, it's quite evident that the margin of winning matters to each and every one of us so we can never take opponents lightly. We won today, convincingly, but we were way too overconfident. A win is a win, but still, yeah.
For team B, i think all of you gave up from the very beginning, all of you resigned to fate that a loss was definite. But that isn't the right spirit. No matter who the opponents are, this mentality makes it all the better for the opposing team, half the battle is already lost. But yes the skill difference, physical superiority was just far too hard to handle. But still, great job not dropping your heads. Especially ERIC LIP WEI DE. MAN OF THE MATCH. BEAUUUTIFUL TURNAROUND JUMPER FOUL IN. But the free throw, ahh i dont have to spell it out. HA. Zijian did a great job on their centre as well, so yes. Weihan too, never gave up, always sprinted back on defense, so i really must say the fighting spirit as the game progressed was impressive. Don't be too disappointed=)"

RI's C division team played a friendly against Jurong Secondary on 17th May at Spans.
The first half was played with full-blown intensity, with the opposing team's centre grabbing many rebounds. It ended 20-24 in favour of Jurong. The second half was when both coaches decided to rotate the bench and allow more players to play, and the match ended with Jurong winning 48-47.
